"An eternal life free sins " is the promise that comes attached with the magnificient event of Kumbh Mela.

Legend has it that is the mythological times , during a waging war between the demigods and demons for the possessing of elixir of eternal life, a few drops of it had fallen on the four places that are today known as Prayag, Haridwar, Nasik and Ujjain.

In 2019 the maha Kumbh mela is going to be celebrated in Prayag after 144 years (after 12 purna Kumbh mela).
